Is it bad to be good? And what is morality? Throughout history, and across different cultures, there have been different views of morality. In general, morality is measured in areas where people’s decisions express an intention relative to other individuals. Moral conscience manifests itself in the question: What should I do? To answer, people must reason about what is good and what is bad. Behaving according to what is good becomes a moral value. The prevailing view is that being “nice” is the right thing to do, it’s the way we should be going as an individual and as a society.

Our first speaker, Stephan Gras will give us a philosophical view on morality and analyzes the innate morality of the human. Stephan has been a parish priest in Barcelona since September 2018. Born in 1967, he studied in Frankfurt and Munich. He was ordained a priest in 1993, worked in Argentina in 1999. From 2000 to 2018, Stephan Gras was Pastor of the Spanish-speaking community of the Diocese of Limburg. In addition, he was priestly director of the pastoral area in Rheingau, Germany with four parishes for more than 11 years. From 2012 to 2018, Stephan Gras was deputy dean of the city of Wiesbaden.
Our second speaker, Pablo Malo differs from the opinion that it is “good to be good”. Pablo is a psychiatrist in Bilbao and according to him, morality can be a danger to society, even to democracy. He has written a book with the title “Los dangers of morality” . To get to know his point of view and-above all-to debate with him and among all of us, we have invited him to our next event. He will give us a talk and then we will have the opportunity to discuss this topic with each other.
