TEDxBarcelonaSalon 4.2.13

At our TEDxBarcelonaSalon events we foster networking, dialog and the discussion among all members of TEDxBarcelona. In order to achieve this we meet once a month and listen to an interesting talk. After watching the talk we discuss about the presented subject. In order to make this event effective we limit the number of attendees.

Our February-TEDxBarcelonaSalon event took place on Monday, 4th of February at 18:45 at the library Excellence (C/ Balmes 191).

What is the right thing to do? Can science answer this question?

Sam Harris has been identified as one of the persons who most critizices religions. In his provoquive talk he questions the reasoning of different religions. Why do we use reasoning in science but not in religions? Harris shows us that in many occasions we are willing to suspend reason in favour of religious beliefs, even when these beliefs inspire the worst of human atrocities.
Sam Harris received a degree in philosophy from Stanford and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA. He is the co-founder and CEO of Project Reason, a nonprofit devoted to spreading scientific knowledge and secular values in society.

First we watched a video together. As always, afterwards we discussed about the content presented (in spanish) among all attendees. We finished the event with networking and a glass of cava.
